The Office: Halloween Episodes Guide
The Office turned Halloween into a reliable showcase across nine seasons — six themed episodes, from Michael dreading a corporate-mandated layoff on "a scary day" to Robert California weaving everyone's fears into a single ghost story. All six stream in the U.S. on Peacock, with individual episodes available to buy or rent. Rotten Tomatoes doesn't score the show's episodes individually, so ratings below are IMDb user scores.

Episode Synopsis
S2E5 – "Halloween" (aired October 18, 2005)
This is the one that started it all, and it's also one of the darker episodes tonally, even under the costumes. Corporate has told Michael he needs to lay someone off, and he's decided Halloween is the day to do it, reasoning that a scary day calls for a scary task. He spends most of the episode dodging the decision, getting talked into and out of firing different people, while everyone else just wants to enjoy their costumes and eat candy. Creed manages to weasel his way out of the chopping block entirely. It's a strong early showcase for how the show could mix genuine workplace stakes with the absurdity of grown adults in costumes.
S5E6 – "Employee Transfer" (aired October 30, 2008)
The Halloween stuff is mostly confined to the cold open here, but it's a memorable one. Pam shows up as Charlie Chaplin's Tramp, only to realize she's the only person at the corporate office who dressed up, and she can't take off the mustache or hat because they're stuck on with grease paint. The main plot has nothing to do with Halloween though. Corporate finds out Michael and Holly are dating, and Holly gets transferred back to Nashua, which sends Michael into a spiral. Meanwhile Dwight torments Andy by taking a sudden interest in Cornell, and Pam deals with a prank from Jim's brothers.
S6E8 – "Koi Pond" (aired October 29, 2009)
Another one where Halloween is mostly window dressing. The cold open (in later airings, anyway) shows the office building a haunted house for local kids. The real story is Michael falling into a koi pond during an important sales meeting and then spending the rest of the episode humiliated as the whole office piles on with jokes. Andy and Pam, saddled with the office's two worst sales records, get sent out cold-calling together and keep getting mistaken for a married couple. It's less about the holiday and more about Michael's ego taking a very literal soaking.
S7E6 – "Costume Contest" (aired October 28, 2010)
This one leans fully into the holiday. Pam runs a costume contest for a coupon-book prize, which gets everyone scrambling to change outfits mid-episode. Michael is stewing because Darryl went over his head with an idea to corporate, and he can't let it go even with a party happening around him. Jim and Pam get sidetracked trying to figure out why her ex-boyfriend Danny never called her back years earlier. Timothy Olyphant guest stars as a corporate exec, and the episode is often cited as one of the stronger Halloween entries.
S8E5 – "Spooked" (aired October 27, 2011)
With Michael gone and Andy now in charge, Erin gets tasked with throwing the Halloween party and is terrified she'll blow it, especially with new CEO Robert California in attendance. Robert brings his young son along, decides the party's too kid-friendly, and hands party-planning duties to Angela and Phyllis instead, which crushes Erin. Robert spends the episode quietly extracting each person's deepest fear so he can weave them into one unsettling ghost story by the end. It's a quieter, weirder episode than the earlier Halloween outings, reflecting the show's shift in tone post-Michael.
S9E5 – "Here Comes Treble" (aired October 25, 2012)
The last Halloween episode of the series, and a divisive one among fans. Andy invites his old Cornell a cappella group, Here Comes Treble, to perform in the office, hoping to relive his glory days and maybe get invited to sing with them. Instead he's repeatedly upstaged by his old rival "Broccoli Rob," played by Stephen Colbert. Elsewhere, Dwight discovers Nellie is taking anxiety medication, and Pam pushes back on a business decision Jim's made without fully looping her in. Reception was mixed, mostly centered on how far Andy's character had drifted by this point in the series.
